Sue Collins

Sue is a graduate of Ovid-Elsie High School, where she was first introduced to radio in 1978 through the radio program at the high school.  She had her own on-air program at WOES-FM.  At that time, WOES was the only public high school radio station in the state of Michigan that actually broadcast over the air, instead of being piped through the school system only.  Sue obtained her 3rd Class Radiotelephone Operator Permit through the FCC on her first try while in high school.  The permit is no longer required of on-air radio board operators, but at that time, it was mandatory.

Sue attended both Lansing Community College and Central Michigan University, where she majored in  broadcasting.  She worked her way through college at several radio stations close by both campuses.  After graduating from college, she hip-hopped all over the state of Michigan working at stations in virtually every type of market and format.

Sue came to WOAP the first time in the mid-90's, not long after Merrill Walker retired, and while Art Kinsey was still here.  She fell in love with the small town attitude toward radio broadcasting and the work ethic that prevailed here.  When she heard in the mid- 2000's that WOAP had stopped broadcasting and the building was empty, she added bringing WOAP back to it's full glory to her bucket list.  In 2009, that addition to her bucket list became a possibility, so she joined the staff, and has not looked back since.  Sue is currently the Promotions Director and PSA Director at WOAP, and the co-host of the morning show, “BS in the Morning”.

Sue is an avid reader, and enjoys camping, attending concerts, listening to music, spending time with friends, and most of all, spending time with her daughter.
